Lack of Transport
The Tweed has seen in recent times a decrease in the number of bus services. The SCA believes that lack of transport available to local citizens, particularly the youth, combined with a lack of recreational facilities, are great factors in youth crimes.
We desperately need more bus services and alternative transport options for:
- young people getting to work. (If they can’t get to work, young people have to refuse the job)
- young people wishing to go out in Coolangatta at night. (If patrons of hotels were able to be moved on quickly after leaving the number of violent incidents could be greatly reduced)
- parents without cars trying to get to work or get their children to sporting events
- elderly citizens without cars who need to reach shopping centres and recreational facilities and clubs
